He said the meeting between him and Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was an important step in relations.
According to the Israeli President, connections with the Palestinian leadership are the right step and will benefit his country's security.
Herzog left unanswered a question about Israeli Defense Minister's unwillingness to negotiate with Palestine.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh also noted they did not accept bilateral talks with Israel. He recalled US President Joseph Biden's pre-election promises and stressed the need for Israel to abide by the agreements signed with Palestine.
