Over the past day, doctors have identified 6,275 people infected with coronavirus in Israel, according to the Ministry of Health, Report informs referring to TASS.
“This is the highest daily infection rate since February 2021 and a new anti-record since the Delta strain emerged in the country in early summer,” Israeli state radio Kan reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, 35,466 people are active COVID patients, the condition of 394 patients is assessed as severe, 64 people are connected to ventilators.
The vaccination of Israelis against coronavirus with Pfizer began on December 20 last year. According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, to date, 5.8 million Israelis have received the first dose, 5.4 million people have received the second dose, which is about 63 percent and 58 percent of the total population (9.3 million), respectively. On July 30, Israel began giving the third vaccine injection to residents of the country aged 60 and over, vaccinated no earlier than five months ago with a second dose of Pfizer.
Since June 1, all quarantine restrictions have been lifted in Israel, except for the requirement to wear protective masks in enclosed spaces, which was canceled on June 15 and reintroduced on June 25 due to an increase in the number of people infected. Since August 8, it has again become mandatory in the country to wear masks when people are crowded on the street. From August 20, access to institutions and events, regardless of the number of participants, will be allowed only to those vaccinated or having a negative coronavirus test result.
