Israel confirms 8,611 coronavirus cases, death toll climbs to 51

Israel has reported 593 new cases of infection over the past day.

Two more Israelis died from coronavirus overnight Sunday, raising the death toll to 51, according to the Health Ministry.

The total number of cases stands at 8,611, a 7 percent increase in 24 hours.

Some 141 patients are in serious condition.

The death rate is mostly among those between ages 49 and 98.
