Indonesia: Coronavirus cases surpass 46 thousand

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has exceeded 46 thousand in Indonesia, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

According to the Health Ministry, COVID-19 tally in Indonesia has reached 46,845, as 954 more tested positive over the past day. The death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands for 2,500, 35 more fell victim to the virus in the last 24 hours. So far, 8,735 patients have recovered in the country.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 9,064,000 globally, resulting in more than 4,849,000 recoveries and over 470,000 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
