India sees highest surge in COVID-related deaths

Over the past day, India recorded 392,488 cases of coronavirus infection, and 3,689 COVID-related deaths, Report informs, citing the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Thus, the country’s total case count has reached 19,557,457, and the death toll hit 215,542.

The current daily increase in deaths from the infection is the highest in India since April 29 when this figure was 3,645.

However, compared to Saturday, the number of new cases has slightly fallen on Sunday. On Saturday, the country saw 401,993 new cases of coronavirus infection, which was the highest surge in incidence recorded to date.

Over the past day, 307,865 Indians managed to beat the deadly pathogen and recovered from the disease. As of today, 15,992,271 have already recovered from COVID-19.

Currently, there are 3,349,644 people are undergoing treatment for COVId in India, which is 80,934 people more than the day before.

India vaccinated 1,826,219 people against coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. The total number of vaccinated citizens is 156,816,031.
