Over the past day, India registered 295,041 new cases of coronavirus infection, and more than 2,000 COVID-related deaths,
These are the largest numbers of those infected and died in one day since the pandemic onset in the country.
India has the second-largest number of detected cases of coronavirus in the world. According to the ministry, to date, more than 15.6 million people have contracted the virus in the country.
As of April 21, more than 13.2 million people have recovered from the disease, while 182,000 succumbed to the illness.
The growth in India’s COVID incidence has been continuing for 41 days. The number of people being treated for COVID has grown from 135,900 to over 2.15 million.
