India's daily COVID case count keeps surging

Over the past day, India registered 314,835 new cases of coronavirus infection, and more than 2,100 COVID-related deaths, Report informs referring to the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

These are the largest numbers of those infected and died in one day since the pandemic onset in the country.

India has the second-largest number of detected cases of coronavirus in the world. According to the ministry, to date, more than 15.9 million people have contracted the virus in the country.

As of April 21, more than 13.5 million people have recovered from the disease, while 184,000 succumbed to the illness.

The growth in India’s COVID incidence has been continuing for over a month. The number of people being treated for COVID has grown to over 2.29 million.
