The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have killed Abu Hassan Alaa, a senior commander of Hezbollah's Badr special forces unit.
According to the IDF press service, cited by Report, Israel carried out the strike in response to Hezbollah activity in the "security zone" in southern Lebanon targeting Israeli troops.
The IDF said Alaa was involved in planning attacks against Israeli soldiers, including drone strikes on military positions in southern Lebanon.
The latest escalation between Israel and Lebanon began in early March. On June 26, Israel and Lebanon signed a US-backed peace agreement that called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon and the disarmament of Hezbollah. However, the two sides have continued to exchange fire.
An earlier IDF strike on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon killed 11 people.
