Hakan Fidan: War mustn't spread to Black Sea

The risk of the Russia–Ukraine war spreading to the region remains a serious threat, and concerns over Black Sea security intensify this danger, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated, Report informs.

Speaking during a joint press statement in Kyiv with Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Fidan stressed that targeting fishermen and tankers in the Black Sea is unacceptable: "We once again call on both sides to act cautiously on this matter."

He noted that diplomatic relations between Russia and Ukraine are currently stagnant, while military attacks have intensified.

The minister emphasized that Türkiye has supported Ukraine politically and militarily since the first day of the war: "As highlighted at the NATO summit, this support will continue. Türkiye maintains contacts with both countries and continues its efforts to end the war as soon as possible. We will also keep providing diplomatic support and are ready to host negotiations between the two sides."
