During a visit to Cairo, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis has discussed with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, energy projects and contacts in the field of labor migration, and also agreed to establish a Supreme Cooperation Council, Report informs referring to TASS.
The prime minister noted after the meeting that the leaders of the two countries had the opportunity to discuss all issues of bilateral cooperation and assess the geopolitical situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
“We had the opportunity to confirm that Greece and Egypt are factors of stability in a wide geopolitical region, as well as to discuss new prospects for cooperation, with a special focus on energy issues, with the connection between Greece and Egypt through an electric cable being a project that seems to be enjoying support of the EU as well,” Mitsotakis said.
He noted that the parties also confirmed their intention to develop cooperation in matters related to the labor force. “As is known, now in our country there is a significant shortage of labor, be it either the raw material sector or construction. We put forward a plan for the rapid implementation of this initial idea of cooperation in this area,” the prime minister said.
