Germany to send air defense systems to Ukraine

German Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht has made a secret visit to Odesa, Ukraine, Report informs via Die Welt.

During the meeting with the Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov, the German minister promised to send German IRIS-T SLM air defense systems to Kyiv soon.

“Ukraine is now facing an incredibly high number of airstrikes, so it is imperative that we give more support to air defense,” Christine Lambrecht said.

The German Defense Ministry confirmed on Twitter the visit of Christine Lambrecht to Ukraine and the meeting with Reznikov.

IRIS-T SLM air defense systems are equipped with short-range air-to-air missiles.

The missiles can operate day and night and in all weather conditions thanks to their infrared image-seeking head. The weapon was created under the leadership of Germany with the cooperation of 6 participating countries.
