The German government supports the inclusion of the Russian nuclear sector in the 11th European Union (EU) sanctions, Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck said in an interview with DPA.
Nuclear technology is a very sensitive area, and here Russia can no longer be considered a reliable partner, he said.
He believes that the Russian Federation uses its dependence on its energy resources to exert pressure.
In this regard, the German government has now told the European Commission about the need to include the civilian nuclear sector [of Russia]. This should become part of the next sanctions package, the German minister said.
