German Foreign Ministry has reduced its diplomatic staff in Venezuela due to the difficult living conditions.
The German Foreign Ministry has reduced the number of its diplomats in Venezuela due to the difficult living conditions and the threat of further deterioration of the security situation in the country, Report informs citing the Deutsche Welle.
Representative of the Foreign Ministry said that the situation in Venezuela is worsening, in particular, in Caracas. He also pointed to the worsening food and drinking water supply, as well as health care as a result of the continued electricity shortage.
On the same day, German Ambassador to Venezuela Daniel Kriner, who was previously announced persona non grata by Caracas, met with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. They discussed the situation in Venezuela.
Notably, in early March, the Venezuelan authorities announced the German Ambassador persona non grata because of interference with the internal affairs of the country.
