Germany announces one-month quarantine regime

Starting Monday to the end of the month, Germany introduces a lockdown to combat coronavirus spread, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the quarantine on October 28. Explaining the need for a new nationwide regime of strict restrictions, she said that while the health system is still coping with the growing number of patients, its capabilities may reach their limits in a few weeks.

In particular, the regime involves the closure of theaters, fitness clubs, restriction of contacts, tourist trips, catering establishments work only one takeaway, or through a delivery service. Besides, schools and kindergartens remain open, hairdressers and shops will continue to work (with a limited number of visitors).

Unlike in the spring, the new regime of restrictions does not involve closing schools and kindergartens. The authorities insist that they will continue to operate normally as long as possible.

As of November 1, Germany recorded almost 4.2 thousand cases of coronavirus infection during the day, while 29 people died.
