In Lyon, the French police fired tear gas at demonstrators opposing pension reform, Report informs via TASS informs.
Radical demonstrators in Lyon became started riots during a protest march on Tuesday against pension reform. The police had to use tear gas when a group of demonstrators began to smash the windows of banks and shops. Protesters attacked the police, pelting them with stones, empty bottles and firecrackers.
The reason for the strikes and nationwide protests in France is the reform introduced in January, which provides for raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 years and the abolition of some special pension regimes to ensure the financial balance of the country's social system.
