France to issue electronic permission for leaving house

The French can use their smartphones with the QR code they received as passes confirming the validity of their exit from home in the conditions of national self-isolation, introduced in the country due to the new coronavirus pandemic.

Report says, French interior Minister Christophe Castane wrote on Twitter.

"I am announcing a new opportunity to fill out an electronic form," he said. "The new solution developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs is simple and safe."

Starting on Monday, owners of smartphones or tablets will be able to download a particular form in electronic form, fill it out and receive a QR code, which will later be scanned by police during verification. This solution, as noted, will avoid physical contact between police and residents - the QR code is scanned at a distance, and will also help to save paper.

Since March 17, France has a self-isolation regime that extended until April 15. Residents of the country are allowed to leave their homes only with a completed questionnaire with a valid reason. These include a trip to work if it is not possible to work remotely; a trip to the store for essential products, a visit to the doctor, urgent family matters, caring for children or people in need of care, individual sports, walking with children or a dog within a kilometer of the house. Good reasons are also considered to be subpoenas and performance of public works at the request of administrative bodies.
