Members of the European Parliament on Thursday rejected Sylvie Goulard as France's next European commissioner, dealing a blow to French President Emmanuel Macron and incoming Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, Report informs citing the TASS.
Sylvie Goulard, a close ally of French president Emmanuel Macron, had been nominated by incoming European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to a job overseeing Europe’s internal market, industry and defense.
Notably, earlier Hungary and Romania suffered a similar fate.
