Franklin strengthens to a Category 4 hurricane

On Monday at 11 p.m., the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Franklin changed first into a Category 3 hurricane and then into a Category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 150 miles per hour.
Category 4 Hurricane Franklin is 420 miles west-southwest of Bermuda, with a maximum sustained wind of 150 mph. It’s moving 9 mph to the north.
“The center of Franklin is expected to pass well to the west of Bermuda on Wednesday." forecasters noted. "Little change in strength is expected overnight, but steady weakening should begin on Tuesday."
