Four died of heat stroke in Japan within a week

More than 2,000 people were hospitalized from May 20 to 26 with a heat stroke, four people died, Japan's fire brigade in charge of the ambulance service informed.

The sharp rise in the number of heat-hit victims is due to the unexpectedly hot weather that has swept through most parts of the country, including the northernmost Japanese island of Hokkaido. Here the temperature record for the end of spring - 39 degrees - was set for both the region itself and across the country.
