Several Indian airlines announced the temporary suspension of flights to Assam state in the northeast of the country due to the ongoing riots, Report informs, citing TASS.
IndiGo announced that all its flights to and from Dibrugarh in Assam have been cancelled for Thursday due to unrest in the state. The carriers SpiceJet and Vistara also announced a temporary cessation of air links with the region.
Local media also noted that due to the clashes in Assam, the railway connection between Guwahati and Dibrugarh city was temporarily stopped.
Yesterday, the state administration imposed a curfew in Guwahati. Moreover, mobile Internet access was restricted for 24 hours in 10 districts of the state.
