Farmers in France pile tires outside government buildings due to delays in payments

Dozens of French farmers, unhappy with delays in payments of government aid, dumped tires and tree branches in front of the Agency for Services and Payments (ASP) in the commune of Balma near Toulouse.

Report informs via Franceinfo that the agency is responsible for paying state aid under the EU's Common Agricultural Policy.

"Upon arrival in Balma, demonstrators dumped old tires and branches at the doors of ASP," the radio station reports.

One of French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal's promises to farmers was full payment of all subsidies by March 15. However, many farmers still have not received 15 to 50% of financial assistance, which for some amounts to several tens of thousands of euros.

In this regard, farmers from the Haute-Garonne department headed on tractors to its administrative center of Toulouse to hold a protest, the radio station reports.
