EU willing to support Syrian economic recovery

The EU is willing to support the restoration of the Syrian economy, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said during a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara, Report informs.

“We discussed a number of issues regarding bilateral cooperation between the European Union and Türkiye. We also have many common issues in our foreign policy. Within the framework of the meeting, we discussed the situation in Syria. Although the fall of the Assad regime gives hope, there are serious threats as well,” Kallas said.

Kallas emphasized that the Syrian people need a government that comprehensively represents the country:

"This is also the EU's goal regarding Syria. We want to support the restoration of the Syrian economy. The EU is also ready to ease sanctions imposed on Syria based on the actions of the new government."
