The EU will continue to work and engage in dialogue with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, whom the United States has put on its blacklist on Iran, European Commission spokesman Carlos Martin Ruiz de Gordejuela told reporters in Brussels. According to him, the EU regrets the decision of the US authorities.
"We will continue to work with Mr. Zarif, as Iran's most senior diplomat, and in view of the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels".
Notably, US Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions against Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif because it considered him as a threat to its agenda.
