EU imposes sanctions on Iran for restricting naval traffic in Hormuz

The European Union has imposed sanctions on two Iranian citizens and a unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for threatening freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, reads a statement by the European External Action Service (EEAS).
The sanctions list includes the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval command in Hormozgan Province, as well as Mohammad Akbarzadeh and Hamid Hosseini.
The statement notes that Akbarzadeh is Deputy Commander for Political Affairs of the IRGC Navy and Hosseini is a representative of Iran"s Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Products Exporters" Union.
