EU countries see record increase in sunflower oil exports

In October-June 2022/23 marketing year (MY), the EU countries supplied up to 963,000 tons of sunflower oil to foreign markets, which is 369,000 tons more than in the corresponding period of 2021/22 MY and is a record figure, Report informs referring to Oil World.

Over the past three months (April-June of this year), 318,000 tons of the product were shipped out of the indicated volume, the main consumers of which were Iraq (104,000 tons), India (28,000 tons), Morocco (31,000 tons) and South Africa (26,000 tons). Most of the sunflower oil was shipped from Bulgaria and Romania.

In addition, since the beginning of 2022/23 MY, the EU has sharply increased the export of rapeseed oil, to 562,000 tons (in October-June 2021/22 MY – 249,000 tons), of which 151,000 tons were sent to China, 177,000 tons to Norway and 12,000 tons to Pakistan.

However, during the period under review, the export of soybean oil from the countries of the block slightly decreased, to 689,000 tons compared to 746,000 tons in October-June 2021/22 MY. Shipments were mainly made to Morocco and other African countries, as well as to the UK.
