Estonian authorities approve allocation of over 30M euros to strengthen border with Russia

The Estonian government allocated 30.5 million euros during the January 16 meeting to strengthen the Estonian-Russian border, Report informs via the government's press service.

"Major attention is being paid to strengthening and expanding the eastern border infrastructure and developing surveillance capabilities. About 18 million euros will be allocated for these purposes. Drone surveillance and counter-drone capabilities will be established on the eastern border and in Estonia's four largest cities. About 12.5 million euros will be allocated for these measures," reads the statement.

It was previously reported that Estonia also wants to create a drone defense system at the border that would allow detection and defense against drone attacks.

The funds are being allocated as part of a 219 million euros national defense investment package approved on Thursday.
