Estonia to appeal to EC with request to adopt eighth package of sanctions against Russia

The Estonian government has decided to apply to the European Commission with a formal proposal to adopt the eighth package of sanctions against Russia, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu said.

Report informs, citing BNS, that Estonia wants the eighth package to expand economic, energy and trade sanctions against Russia and to include more individuals on the sanctions list.

Tallinn is also seeking a significant expansion of sanctions on the movement of Russian citizens. Estonia, according to Reinsalu, is working to achieve a political consensus throughout the Schengen visa area so that additional sanctions are imposed on Russian citizens, as it has already done itself.
