Over the past day, Germany recorded 9,677 coronavirus cases,
Meanwhile, the disease claimed 298 lives across the country.
The previous day, the country reported 6,885 new cases and 90 deaths.
From December 2020 through January 2021, the number of cases per day in Germany sometimes exceeded 30,000. Now, as the country is going through the third wave of the pandemic, quarantine measures have been extended until April 18.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, since the pandemic onset, 2,910,445 people have contracted the coronavirus in Germany. More than 2.6 million of those infected have already recovered.
As many as 77,400 people have died in the country due to coronavirus-related health complications.
