COVID-19 deaths in Spain near 12,000

809 people have died from coronavirus in Spain in the space of 24 hours, lifting the country's death toll to 11,744.

The new coronavirus emerged in late December 2019 in Wuhan, the most populous city in Central China. Over 1,127,000 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection, including 59,949 deaths worldwide.

On March 11, the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic.
