COVID-19 cases hit nearly 100,000 in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia announced 2,591 new COVID-19 cases as of June 5, according to the Health Ministry.

The number of coronavirus cases has risen to 95,748 in the country.

As many as 31 patients died of the infection, pushing the toll to 642. The country’s total recoveries stand at 70,616.

The number of testings performed in Saudi Arabia so far is 908,972. The infections have reached to 172 cities in the Kingdom. The Minister of Health calls everyone to wear masks and maintain social distance.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 6,737,000 globally, resulting in more than 3,273,000 recoveries and over 393,000 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
