Countries of fossil fuel-free alliance expect its further expansion

Three countries - Spain, Kenya and Samoa - have decided to join the Beyond Oil & Gas Alliance (BOGA) initiative as part of the COP-28 climate change conference taking place in Dubai, the alliance members said at a press conference of the energy ministers of the alliance member countries, Report informs.

Since its inception at COP26 in 2021, BOGA has more than doubled in size, according to the alliance.

As noted by minister of ecological transition of France, Barbara Pompili, her country at the national level has made a number of decisions to abandon the development and use of traditional energy resources.

She added that the alliance countries also plan to abandon the development of new hydrocarbon reserves after 2040; a planned and phased cessation of the production and consumption of fossil fuels is required.
