Chinese authorities allocate more than $100 million to fight coronavirus

China's Finance Ministry will spend $144 million to battle a new type of coronavirus, Report says, citing Gazeta.Ru.

"China's Finance Ministry said it was allocating 1 billion yuan ($145 million) in funding to the Hubei provincial government to help with efforts to contain the outbreak of a new coronavirus," the ministry said in a statement.

At the end of last year, the Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan. In January, it was clear that the causative agent of the disease was a new type of coronavirus.

The number of confirmed infections with pneumonia caused by a new type of coronavirus has increased to 849 people, raising the death toll to 26.
