Canada slaps sanctions on five Russians, 32 Russian companies

The Canadian government is slapping sanctions on five Russians and 32 structures associated, in particular, with the Russian defense complex, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said this on Friday, Report informs citing Interfax.
According to the Toronto Star, entrepreneurs Roman Abramovich and Alisher Usmanov, CEC chairwoman Ella Pamfilova, as well as Elena Morozova, and Igor Yanchuk are sanctioned.
Sanctions are imposed on 32 enterprises and organizations in the defense, energy, and finance sectors for their role in the situation in Ukraine. These are the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Irkut Corporation, the Progress Rocket, Space Center, the Admiralty Shipbuilding Plant OJSC, the Kazan Helicopter Plant, Rostec-Azimut, the Sukhoi Company JSC, and a number of research organizations.
Trudeau also said that Ottawa is exploring the possibility of transporting refugees from Ukraine to Canada.
The prime minister acknowledged that in the short term, Canada does not have the ability to compensate for the current oil and gas supplies from Russia to Europe.
