Bulgarian parliament sacks prime minister

The Bulgarian parliament has dismissed Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

A majority vote made the decision, Report informs, citing "Yevropeyskaya pravda."

Thus, 156 out of 240 deputies voted in favor of Borisov's resignation.

The Prime Minister did not attend the meeting. He said he would not run for prime minister in the last parliamentary elections.

Notably, Bulgaria held parliamentary elections on April 4. His party, the Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria (GERB), won 26 percent of the vote. However, this does not allow to form a government alone. Therefore, the GERB needs to find an ally to form a coalition government.

Borisov has been the Prime Minister of Bulgaria since 2009.
