Prime Minister Boris Johnson has received an election boost as one of the UK’s most reliable polls suggests a majority in the Tories favor.
According to the MRP poll, published jointly by The Times newspaper and Sky News, the Tories could win 339 seats out of the 650 seats in Parliament, representing a vote share of 43 percent.
The latest MRP poll also suggests the Scottish National Party could win 41 seats, while the Liberal Democrats could take 15 seats with 12 percent of the vote.
Due to measurement error, it is still impossible to completely exclude chances that no party will receive a majority in the lower house of the British Parliament. The forecast of the channel is based on a survey of more than 100,000 people. The survey has been conducted since last week.
Early parliamentary elections are scheduled for December 12. Prime Minister Boris Johnson called for an early election when it became clear that he would not be able to fulfill his promise to withdraw Britain from the EU on October 31, 2019. The prime minister hopes that the new parliament will support his deal on Brexit.
