Boris Johnson says UK beginning to turn the tide on coronavirus

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the country has begun to "turn the tide" on the coronavirus, Report says, citing Sky News.

However, he insisted the lockdown must go on to avoid a potentially devastating "second peak" of infections.

The Prime Minister made a statement outside Number 10 on his return to Westminster after recovering from a severe bout of Covid-19.

Earlier, the media reported that Johnson may introduce a number of quarantine relief measures that were introduced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of pneumonia in China's Wuhan, the causative agent of which is a new type of coronavirus officially named COVID-19.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus a pandemic.
