US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a telephone conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan.
Report informs, citing the State Department's press service, that the parties discussed the strategic partnership between the two countries:
"The Secretary of State reaffirmed the United States' commitment to a strategic partnership with Jordan and thanked King Abdullah II for Jordan's strong leadership in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East."
On the night of April 3-4, a coup d'etat against King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was prevented. Bassem Awadallah, the king's secret adviser, then the country's finance minister and an adviser to Saudi Arabia's Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a member of the royal family, Sharif Hassan bin Zayed, and a total of 16 others were arrested.
Among those detained were high-ranking military officials, heads of Bedouin tribes, and members of an unnamed intelligence agency.
