Biden eyes buying 200M doses of COVID vaccines

US President Joe Biden is going to buy 100 million doses of coronavirus vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, each, Report informs, referring to NBC News.

Biden noted that this move could provide enough doses to fully inoculate nearly every American by the end of the summer.

The government is seeking 100 million doses from Pfizer/BioNTech and 100 million from Moderna, an order that would be made available over the summer. They would be in addition to the 400 million combined doses the companies had already committed to providing the US.

It will be enough to fully vaccinate 300 million Americans to beat the pandemic, Biden said.

Earlier, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changed vaccination guidelines to allow patients to mix different coronavirus vaccines. Under the new guidelines, patients will be able to swap one US-approved COVID-19 jab for another between two doses in ‘exceptional situations.’
