US President Joe Biden has declared a state of emergency in New York and New Jersey that were hit hard by the Ida Hurricane, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.
According to the information, 23 people were killed in New Jersey, and 15 died in New York after torrential rains caused flooding.
The White House said in a statement that the president's order enables the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate all efforts to eliminate consequences of the natural calamity.
