Belgium will take part in the EU naval operation to ensure the safety of navigation in the Red Sea, Report informs referring to the Belgian publication Soir.
The mission will be defensive in nature. The parameters of Belgian participation in the mission will be announced later on January 19.
Earlier, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that a significant part of the cargo delivered through the Red Sea is intended specifically for Europe, and a long blockade of this route will lead to additional transport costs.
