Turkey cannot accept a single refugee from Afghanistan, said Omer Celik, spokesman for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Report informs.
“Turkey is not a refugee camp. We no longer have the opportunity to accept even one refugee (from Afghanistan). We ourselves will make decisions. We guard our borders very carefully,” Celik told reporters.
He noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is in favor of finding a comprehensive solution to the crisis in Afghanistan.
“He conducts intensive international diplomacy - he discussed the situation in Afghanistan with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, (German Chancellor Angela) Merkel. We are closely monitoring the topic of human rights in Afghanistan, which has come under the control of the Taliban,” Celik added.
