Report informs citing the TASS that Director General of the French Gendarmerie, General Richard Lizurey said.
"About 550 gendarmes were injured in various degrees of severity in the course of actions . This is an indication of how violent these manifestations are. Moreover, this situation is observed from the beginning of mass protests", - said Lizurey said.
At the same time, he justified the widespread use of gendarmerie and the special police fprces firing large-caliber rubber bullets - "this is necessary, in particular, to protect the employees themselves who are attacked."
