The recent statements and behavior of the Armenian leadership need special comment, Spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva told reporters.

L. Abdullayeva: "The attempts of the aggressor country's leadership to reinforce the occupation of the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan and continue to violate the rights of hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people instead of eliminating the consequences of the war started by Armenia, demonstrate the leadership's failure to understand its responsibilities and indifference to the future of its country and people."

"Experience shows that the Armenian side is trying to highlight anti-Armenian sentiment in Azerbaijan when it runs out of arguments. However, the occupying country's leaders ignore the fact that the discord between the two peoples in the region is based on Armenia's unfounded territorial claims and aggressive policy. They do not act to eliminate the consequences of this hostility and conflict but pursue a blind policy far from reality, pragmatism, and constructiveness," she emphasized.

"If the Armenian leadership thinks of peace and security in the region, as official Yerevan declares, then it must withdraw the occupying forces from the territories of Azerbaijan and prepare the people for peace. It must display its political will at the negotiating table with concrete results since the patience of neither Azerbaijan nor international mediators is inexhaustible."

Armenia, responsible for the shedding of the blood of thousands of peaceful people, and gross violation of international obligations, has no moral right to speak of law or democracy, the ministry spokesperson stressed.
