Lavrov speaks with Armenian Foreign Minister on phone

During a phone call with Armenian Foreign Minister Zograb Mnatsakanyan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated Moscow's readiness to take mediation efforts to stabilize the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, TASS reports, citing Russian Foreign Ministry's statement, released on Sunday.

"Lavrov expressed serious concern about the continuing large-scale hostilities on the confrontation line, and the information about the dead and wounded. He stressed the need for the soonest cessation of fire," the statement reads. "The minister also noted that Russia, together with other OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, will continue to take mediation efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation."

"Preparations are currently underway for the phone call between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov," says the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement.
