Kyrgyz researcher: Karabakh conflict settlement 'too protracted'

The resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is too protracted, honored lawyer of Kyrgyzstan, doctor of law, professor Kairat Osmonaliyev said.

Report informs that he spoke at the presentation of the scientific work dedicated to the legal and political aspects of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at the ADA University.

According to him, the topic of separatism, unfortunately, remains relevant and very acute for everyone.

"The resolution of the Karabakh conflict has been protracted for a long time, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs pushed themselves a bit off the Madrid principles. The status quo benefits Armenia, and time plays against Azerbaijan in this regard," he said.

"During my research, I revealed the fact that justice can be seen in terms of terminology. The term "warring parties" is often used, which is incorrect. There is an aggressor side, an occupier - Armenia, and there is a suffering side - Azerbaijan. Armenia’s support for separatism in the late 80s, Karabakh was a preparation for annexation," Osmonaliyev emphasized.

According to him, many countries have suffered from separatism. "In particular, we in Kyrgyzstan faced a civil confrontation when calls for separatism were also heard," the lawyer said.
