Head of the Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan Tural Ganjaliyev has commented on the so-called "inauguration" to be held in the occupied Shusha city of Azerbaijan.

"The results of the so-called "elections" rejected by the whole international community have no legal basis, and the legitimacy of any institution or individual as a result of those "elections" is out of the question," Ganjaliyev said.

"The so-called ceremony is a provocation aimed at disrupting the negotiation process. The Armenian government regularly resorts to such provocative acts, and holding of the so-called event in the occupied Shusha city clearly demonstrates this."

"This step by Armenia is an insult to the Azerbaijani IDPs who were subjected to ethnic cleansing from the occupied Azerbaijani territories. It also inflicts a blow to the peaceful settlement of the conflict, and completely contradict the intention "to prepare peoples for peace" expressed at the meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers in January 2019," said the Azerbaijani community head.

Ganjaliyev reiterated that a solution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is possible through the withdrawal of the occupying Armenian army from Azerbaijani territories as well as the return of all Azerbaijani IDPs to their ancestral lands within the framework of the internationally recognized territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

"We call on the international community, especially the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, to properly assess and condemn this provocative act by Armenia," he added.
