Russian expert: Azerbaijan should respond harshly to Armenia's attacks

Armenia continues its provocations against Azerbaijan, and these provocations must be met with a severe response. Yevgeny Mikhailov, an expert on interethnic conflicts, told the Russian Bureau of Report, commenting on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border situation.

The expert believes that Azerbaijan needs to stop standing on ceremony with Armenia: "Azerbaijan is a strong state capable of reclaiming its territories at any time. In my opinion, the situation is difficult now. It has already gone so far that you should speed up some diplomacy in terms of the negotiation process and not stand on ceremony.

Don't expect Pashinyan's next statements, which he changes every time, canceling all previous agreements. It may take a very long time. I believe  that during the recent speech, Ilham Aliyev expressed his complaints to Yerevan quite harshly."

The expert noted that there were agreements on a step-by-step settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Armenia is now merely trying to drag out the negotiations: "Yerevan is waiting for something, but in my opinion, it is hopeless. The entire international community, especially the main guarantor of Armenia-Russia, is already fed up with all these movements of the Pashinyan regime, which fails to fulfill promises. In this sense, it is impractical to respond with fire. It is difficult to say anything now since the situation has remained unchanged for 30 years. So you need to prepare the ground for a callous response; respond in such a way that Armenia no longer has the desire to conduct attacks. We need to do something similar and continue to engage in diplomacy. It is also wrong to tolerate these regular attacks, " Mikhailov concluded.
