Kamran Aliyev unveils tasks of Prosecutor General's Office

Azerbaijan's new Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has announced the duties of the Prosecutor General's Office on Friday.

The main tasks of the Prosecutor General's Office are as follows:

- Increasing the effectiveness of the fight against crimes concerning state security, protection of statehood from internal and external threats;

- Strengthening joint efforts with the Interior Ministry, the State Security Service, as well as other law enforcement agencies to combat all types of crime and maintain the rule of law;

- Expanding the involvement of the prosecutor's office in the reliable protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens;

- Implementation of serious measures to combat all forms of corruption in the public and private sectors, as well as crimes committed by officials;

- Optimization of tax and customs policy, the formation of a favorable business environment and legal support of entrepreneurship in the context of reforms aimed at socio-economic development in our country;

- Close involvement in significant strategic measures, such as the effective fight against the shadow economy;

- Improving the quality of the state work and its defense in the courts, attaining a fundamental change in the achievement of goals through punishment by adhering to a balanced penal policy;

- Boosting cooperation with international partners and employing the best international practices in the current activities.
