CEC chief: Nearly 2,000 local and foreign observers applied regarding parliamentary elections

Nearly 2,000 local and foreign observers have applied in connection with early parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, and almost all of them received a positive response, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panakhov told journalists.

According to him, 1,630 of registered observers are local:

"There are nearly 70 foreign observers. The monitoring mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States have already begun their work. Observers from the parliaments of Italy, the Czech Republic and the Lithuanian Seimas have passed accreditation. Representatives of the Central election Commission of Moldova will also observe the elections. The process of registering foreign observers is currently underway at an accelerating pace."
