The first plenary session of the parliament today discussed "Statement of the Milli Majlis on the anniversary of the beginning of the Patriotic War of the Azerbaijani people".

According to Report, the statement was presented by MP Nizami Safarov.

The statement reads that one year has passed since the end of the occupation of the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan and the outbreak of the Patriotic War.

It further notes that the unfounded claims of Armenia and aggressive policy led to the occupation of 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan. Armenians committed monstrous crimes against Azerbaijanis, perpetrated Khojaly and other acts of genocide, destroyed and burned 877 cities, villages, and settlements. Azerbaijan's cultural heritage has been ruined in the occupied territories.
